While the idea of renting out our place while we're gone was really attractive (any money coming in is good now that we don't have jobs!), in the end we didn't want to deal with the hassle of screening people and figuring out all the logistics.
Well, one day a couple of weeks ago I was talking to my friend Naomi, trying to make plans to meet up for coffee. I got a message from her saying "I really want to meet up, but this week doesn't look good. I have to move out of my place next week, and I still have to find a new place to live, and..."
Long story short, Naomi's gonna rent our place while we're in South America! It worked out perfectly for both of us - it gives us the peace of mind that someone we know and trust will be looking after the place and it'll bring in a bit of extra money for Joanna and me. For Naomi, it eases the stress of finding a place right away, and lets her focus on other things in her life that are going on right now.
